THE ROCKET unites four distinctive Nordic musicians in a sound world where jazz, folk and classical traditions merge with striking naturalness. The ensemble combines the acclaimed Svante Söderqvist Trio, Svante Söderqvist (double bass, cello, vocals), Adam Forkelid (piano) and Calle Rasmusson (drums), with Estonian-Swedish accordionist Tuulikki Bartosik, well known to many listeners for her poetic and expressive folk artistry.
At the centre stands Svante Söderqvist, regarded as one of Sweden’s foremost jazz bass players for over two decades. His warm tone, lyrical compositions and unique ability to draw on classical bowing and folk-inspired melody within a jazz framework give the group its distinctive voice. With Tuulikki’s richly expressive accordion, the ensemble reveals new shades of colour, always rooted in a strong jazz foundation.
