Maarja Aarma MA

Maarja Aarma MA is an Estonian singer-songwriter and ensemble leader whose music bridges soul, neo-soul, vocal pop, and Scandinavian jazz. She first emerged with the jazz ensemble Gretagrund, releasing the album Püsimatu hing in 2015, before founding her Tallinn-based group MA in 2017.

Aarma has carved out a distinct sound with MA: atmospheric grooves, expressive melodies, and lyrics that balance intimacy with universality. The band’s debut album Connected Through (2019) and EP Queenland (2022) received strong acclaim, while singles like “Don’t Throw This Heart Around” and “Hazy Day” gained international recognition at the International Songwriting Competition, reaching the semifinals (2017) and finals (2019).

A versatile artist, Aarma is also active as a lyricist and arranger, bringing her voice and vision to projects ranging from chamber ensembles to major productions, including the 23rd European Film Awards, Entrepreneur Gala 2024, Jazzkaar 2025, and Tallinn Global Summit 2025.

Her new album, “Fall Into Love,” due in January 2026, was produced in collaboration with US professionals and promises to expand her rich, genre-blending sound and highlight her continued evolution as one of Estonia’s most compelling contemporary voices.
